HOWM-Peru (Pachacútec, Ventanilla) Medical Mission Center

“Bringing Healing and Hope to the Heart of Peru”
1. Introduction: The Vision Behind the Launch
The Pachacútec Ventanilla region in Peru faces a harsh reality regarding healthcare. As a densely populated area of absolute poverty, residents suffer from a critical lack of access to hospitals and clinics. Chronic illnesses often go untreated, and there is a severe void in essential services such as Dentistry, Orthopedics, and Obstetrics.
In response to these dire needs, and as an “answer to serving the community through evangelical love,” the HOWM – Peru Medical Mission Center was officially launched in May 2025 in partnership with the HOWM organization.
2. Identity and Mission: More Than Just Medicine
HOWM: Healing + Outreach + Witness + Mission
Our goal is not merely to provide temporary medical volunteering, but to establish:
Evangelical Care: We present the Gospel before treatment, offer one-on-one ministry after treatment, and invite patients to join our worship community.
A Sustainable Mission Platform: We provide ongoing follow-up for patients interested in the Gospel, nurturing their spiritual growth alongside their physical recovery.
“Planting seeds of the Gospel upon the hands that heal.”
3. Ministry Progress & Impact Report
Since our launch, we have established a consistent weekly schedule to build trust within the community:
| Department | Schedule | Services & Focus |
Dentistry | Mon (10 AM – 2 PM) | Extractions, cavity treatment, and scaling. This service helped break down initial walls of distrust. |
| General Medicine | Mon (2 PM – 7 PM) | Managing hypertension, diabetes, and gastrointestinal issues; promoting lifestyle and nutritional changes. |
| Orthopedics | Fri (10 AM – 1 PM) | Treating injuries from hazardous labor and chronic joint/back pain to help residents return to work. |
| Oriental Medicine | Sat (8:30 AM – 1:30 PM) | Acupuncture and massage. A highly popular service for the elderly and those with chronic pain. |
The Core Value of HOWM:
Medicine + Listening + Prayer = A Missional Encounter. This holistic approach has become a model for effective medical missions.
4. Spiritual Fruits of the Mission
The impact of the center is evidenced by the shifting hearts of the community:
Increased Spiritual Interest: A growing number of patients voluntarily request prayer after their check-ups.
Church Integration: We have seen a clear rise in residents visiting the church and participating in Sunday worship.
Testimonies of Love: Many patients confess, “Through the doctor’s touch, I finally encountered the love of Jesus.” The center is successfully serving as a “Gateway to the Gospel.”
5. Future Vision: Medium & Long-Term Goals
I. Regularization and Expansion of Services
We plan to transition from “short-term visiting” missions to a permanent, sustainable medical center. Beyond Pachacútec, we aim to expand our reach to remote areas where PAUL MISIÓN IN PERÚ operates, including:
Andes Highlands: La Esperanza, Cajamarca.
Amazon Basin: Manantay, Pucallpa.
Northern Coast: Nuevo Mocupe, Chiclayo.
II. Expansion of Specialized Care
We are preparing to introduce Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Psychological Counseling (Trauma Healing). Specifically, we are planning a Therapy Program for Underprivileged Children and regular preventative health education.
III. Training Local Leaders
Our vision is to move from “Receiving Mission” to “Establishing Mission” by training local Peruvian nurses, counselors, and dedicated local doctors to lead the ministry.
6. Facilities & Quality Improvement
To provide “Healthcare with Dignity,” we are currently researching and seeking support for:
Upgrading dental units and medical consumables.
Expanding clinic space and improving waiting areas.
Strengthening hygiene/sterilization systems.
Implementing a digital Medical Record System.
7. Invitation to Partnership
This is a path we cannot walk alone. This mission requires continuous affection, interest, and support. We invite you to join us through:
Financial Support for equipment and operations.
Prayer Partnership for the staff and the patients.
Medical Professionals willing to share their expertise.
Remote Consultation Networks to assist our local team.
